Making Crock Pot Hot Process Soap

Today I decided to make some hot process soap.  I've always been a cold process girl but, recently, the appeal of being able to use my soaps within a few days instead of a few weeks has been quite appealing.

Here are a few pictures of the process:
Stainless steel pot with all of my oils and butters {coconut oil, palm oil, canola oil & hemp seed butter}
Lye & Water Solution

Essential oils {lemongrass, rosemary, lavender and a blend of eucalyptus, peppermint, ginger, lavandin}
Crock pot

I'm just waiting for the oils and lye & water mixture to each reach approximately 115 degrees.  Then I'll combine the two with my stick blender and pour into the crock pot.
It's starting to gel.  This is about a half hour after I poured it into the crock pot.

Ooooo.....more gelling....I'll let it go for a little bit longer then pour (or should I say "scoop") it into the mold, cover and that's it!  Tomorrow I'll cut it and let it cure for a few days or longer, depending on how soft it is.  The essential oils are VERY strong right now.  I might call this one "Wake Up Soap".

And here it is in the mold.  Good night, soap!

Big Changes at the Soap Shop!

Big changes are coming to the soap shop!

Thanks to the lovely creativity of Reni at Bliss And Tell Branding Co., my labels and overall branding is getting a facelift.

We're in the final stages of revisions and will hopefully have the look nailed down by next week.  Stay tuned for product updates, too!

I've had soooo many tourists come through my shop and ask for TSA-approved body products.  Well, you know what...I was listening.  And as soon as the branding is complete I'll be adding cute travel-size packs to the PTR line-up!

I'm thinking a small 3oz soap in a cute muslin, hand-stamped bag, 2-3oz whipped body butter for moisturizing that sun drenched skin, 2-3oz whipped sugar scrub for exfoliating, 2oz travel/purse size hemp lotion and a luscious hemp lip balm.

Do you have anything that you'd particularly like to see in these packs?  Tell me and if I incorporate your idea into my new travel packs, you'll earn yourself a FREE pack! So throw all of your best ideas at me.

Doggie Shampoo Bars

If you have furry family members like I do, you need to wash them up regularly to keep them healthy and smelling good.  So, I decided to try my hand at doggie shampoo bars.  I added tansy flowers for a bug repellent, lavender buds to repel pests and as an anti bacterial, oatmeal to soothe the skin and citronella, cedarwood and lemongrass essential oils for a fresh, clean scent.

These should be ready in about 4 weeks!
